Hi David, you hear the number of rows added, but sighted people can look and see how many messages there are, but we can't, and how do you know where you are in a list, if it doesn't say 5 of 15, or something like that, because it might say 25 rows added, but what if you have more than 25 messages in your folder, how do you know how many messages you have to go until the end? Sighted people don't need itemized lists, but we do, so the screen readers have these, but at least on my mac, I don't hear any itemized count, and that was helpful when I would be reading my mail. I am somewhat unclear about what you want though for instance, if you use list view, you get numbered lists. same in mail, you get numbered messages and there is a top and bottom. outlook express doesn't even give you numbered messages. What is an itemized list? I use arrows to move through folders in one of the three views, list, iconand column all the time and do not feel the need for a top and bottom signal.
