Hi all, I think we need itemized lists, because I can be in a folder, and unless I type something, I don't know where I am, and there is no top and bottom index so you don't know if you're at the beginning of a list or not. If voice over has this, it should have these options available by default right out of the box, and also, when in an empty folder, it should say unselected, or no selected item, as when I am in a list of messages, and there is only one message in the list, in mail, or a folder, pressing the up arrow will not read the message or file again, and, maybe it is my misunderstanding of the mac, because I have only had it for a month, but to me, these basic things are very important.
