- How frequently does the problem happen?
a) Always
b) Sometimes succeeds; sometimes fails.
- What type of document does have a problem?
a) Any type of documents, including Writer, Calc, Impress, ...
b) With certain type of document, the problem only happens.
- When does the problem (such as a dialog window) happen?
a) It happens right after you click on something.
b) It happens a few seconds after you click on something.
- Do you remember any special things which you or somebody did to your
computer before the problem happens?
- Anything else
To help you, we would need to share information about what is currently
happening.

Here's a more detailed version of the symptoms.
1. The problem is in Windows XP, after a clean installation.
2. Writer works fine. As far as I can see, all the normal functions work.
3. When I try to save as PDF, either via the toolbar icon or via the
save as option, Writer goes through the motions and "saves" a PDF file.
4. When I open the saved PDF file, it is a clean sheet, empty. There is
a PDF file, with the name of the original Writer file, but with no content.
5. As noted, this has happened several times over the years, and the
only way to correct it has been a complete removal of OOo and
re-installation. This last time, even this did not work.
6. I went to Ubuntu (dual boot), opened the Writer file and saved it as PDF.
