If the end goal includes having end users trust the From: field, requiring
users to use the comment ("friendly from") rather than the value of the
From: field to identify who the email was written by - and hiding the email
address of the author entirely - seems like a step back rather than forward.
On a practical level, rewriting the From: to be the list address would make
it difficult to reply to the author, as their email address isn't going to be in
any header that the MUA knows what to do with.
Is there anything in the design that's being suggested that addresses those
two problems?
(Happy Higgs Day, everyone!)
Cheers,
Steve
