I think that's understood. Go ahead and set up web-based forums if that's what other resellers prefer. The question is why you have to take the mailing lists away. Why not have both?
There's nothing wrong with the web forums and the mailing lists being separate "communities". Maybe that's a good thing. They cater to different crowds, a fact that should be obvious by now.
