The meter movements DO affect each other, magnetically.

  Also wanted to mention

I noticed that while the plate amperes meter does not change when I increase
the XMTR gain while trying to tune, the S units meter
does rise considerably, the 'PLATE AMPERES' meter actually decreases a tad not
much only about half a division.

Also while I am listening to the morning show at 3843 I am in 'SIDEBAND' 'SSB'
with the 'RF TUNE' control peaked and now the S meter
is reacting much better than it did before I cleaned the relay - but I am also
noticing the 'PLATE AMPERES' meter moves slightly at
the 'S UNITS' meter reaches S 20 and above.

  Good morning everyone:

I stayed up last night and did the resistance checks.

Found one tube (V17 - 6AQ5) which when checking it you could
warble the tube and the measurements would change drastically.

So I had another and changed it and now it is much more stable.

Thought I had found the problem and tried again to no avail.
So I took it apart again and cleaned the relay contacts. It
seems to be rx'ing better, but still wont transmit anything.

I am planning on doing voltage measurements today sometime,
unless anyone has another idea.

It is such a laborious task I am open to another suggestion Hi Hi

Yeah there is not even the bulb holder in there. It looks
like it has
been hard wired to the relay.

There is a small coax coming up from the underside. According to
Garey's picture of the relay, the center conductor is soldered
directly to 'RX ANT' the shield is soldered directly to ground.
