Yes, you were thinking of FreePPP 1.0.5. But none of the later
versions of FreePPP (2.5.x and 2.6.x) has a ConfigPPP control panel

This is my point too - with MacPPP 2.5 or FreePPP 1.0.5 one does
not need to know anything about modem init strings, scripts, generators,
ad nauseum in order to establish a successful connection.

The fastest connecting Mac I have is a lowly Mac LC with 2 MB of
RAM, 40 MB hard drive, system 6.0.7, MacTCP 2.0.6, MacPPP 2.0.1
and Eudora Lite 1.3.1 !!
