Oh, another thing I just remembered having happen... For a while, one of my
Duo 280c's was "finicky" in that, if I had the battery in and the locking
mechanism on the battery properly seated, it wouldn't recognize the battery.
If I fiddled with the battery and had it VERY slightly out of place, it
worked fine. After reconditioning the batteries in that way and doing the
cleaning of the terminals thing and then trying a bunch of different
batteries, things began working again. Problem is, I was in a hurry and so
I wasn't terribly scientific about my procedure and don't know exactly what
fixed the problem. In fact, at one point, I decided that sliding it in
gently wasn't seating it firmly against the contacts, so I got more firm and
slid it in rather sharply. Whatever I did worked, and I haven't had a
problem since. (just wish I knew what I did right... *mutters to himself*)
