Having never had any sort of problem with the serial port (and I've
used it heavily) and having seen two similar reports of trouble on
G3-320 upgraded machines, I'm becoming suspicious of the clock
crystal on your 320MHz card (and Jerry's). Bad clocking will mess

On the other hand, I've also never found anything particularly evil
about the port on the 2300, or any other Duo (beyond the normal evil
of all 68k Mac ports, and the way serial communications are handled
by the OS). If the majority of your problems have been with the same
Stylewriter (on both computers), perhaps it's the printer that's at
fault.
