Jackie-darling:

Take a deep breath. It'll be okay. I'm not trying to dominate the
list, I'm enthused. No need to degrade me with macho cliches like
"go to the bar" :-) I don't need to drink to chill out.

What's your response to the _point_ I made with the renaming
        suggestion?

On the Buckley debate, you're right. They're always rigged. But
the participants are usually worth listening to. And, for what
it's worth, I thought the feminists won that debate.

Philip:
Nice to meet you. On your women-closer-to-nature point, yes, let's
learn from that. One caveat, however - we're past the point of no
return in the technology realm. We can't just go back to the land.
There are too many of us. I think we're stuck on a technological
        treadmill.

On the "wasps have moral standing" view, whoa - too far out for me.
Do bacteria have moral standing too? Is it not right to take an
antibiotic, 'cause it will kill organisms? Where do we draw the
line? If nature is deemed more important than humans, then the
best thing we could do is blow all our brains out and get out of
nature's hair. But I prefer to put humans first and try to make
the world as happy as possible, including protecting the
        environment for human enjoyment.

Regarding nurturing, I completely agree with the direction of your
win-win vs. competition thread. Our culture seems to think that
fear, greed, and competition are the only way to motivate people,
and ignores the spiritual kind of motivation. I think we can
change a lot of things in our economy and government to be win-win.
        Let's pursue this thread further.

Maureen:
Right on! Perfect segue from the last paragraph - YES, let's
work to eliminate all forms of oppression and disrespect. And to
do that, I think we have to look at what drives the (male?) part of
ourselves that wants to appear better than others, and what makes
us so controlling, etc., etc. Sharing power and recognition is
key. Dominators must learn how to let go. (Guess that means me.)
