Hi Richard More replies, I'm afraid!
However, changing from DATA-A to PSK-D on the K3 does appear to give full output with no trouble! I'll check it in the morning with a local HAM to see if in fact it was giving out a true PSK31 signal!!! Ray From: Richard Ferch [via Elecraft] [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: 07 March 2012 15:54 To: Ray G3XLG Subject: Re: K3 a few new user questions Ray, Are you still getting ERR PTT messages? NO If you are, then it is likely that in your N1MM or DXLabs configuration you have something set that is telling the MKII to assert its hardware PTT output. For example, if the Router were configured to use COM6 for FSK, with the PTT box checked beside it (YES), and you had RTS on COM6 set to Always On in the N1MM Configurer (NO), or if the Router were configured to use RTS (YES) on COM4 for PTT and you had RTS on COM4 set to Always On in the N1MM Configurer (NO, Always OFF) and/or in the DXLab Commander configuration (NOT YET CONNECTED) , that could be a cause. Once this is resolved, when you say no power output, are you at least getting PTT, i.e. the K3's red TX LED coming on? (YES, the RX switches over to TX, the LED lights, but no power out) If not, your PTT configuration needs more work. I believe that microHam suggests using RTS on the radio control port in N1MM Logger for PTT (YES) (set DTR to Always Off), and if you are using the K3's ACC port for PTT (YES, I think so) , setting the Router to use PTT2 for PTT in digital modes, but I may be misremembering this - consult the sample settings documents (will do) under Support at the microHam-USA web site, and the MKII user manual for the Router's PTT settings. In DXLab Commander, you would set RTS on the primary CAT port to PTT and DTR to Off, and in Commander's General configuration window you would check the "suppress CAT" check box in the PTT pane. If you are getting the K3 into transmit mode, but no power output, check the following: In DATA A mode, look at MAIN:MIC SEL and make sure it is set to Line In (YES). Now adjust the K3's Mic gain control to set the Line In level - I believe the default level is zero, which will result in zero output. You need to adjust the MKII's TX level control and the K3's Line In level control so that you can see 4-5 bars on the K3's ALC meter (with the meter in ALC mode) (I can get no ALC or power out even with Max line/mic gain & max TX router gain). Once you have done this, if you set the K3's Pwr control to 40W you should see 40 watts (4 bars) on the K3's RF output meter. 73, Rich VE3KI Ray G3XLF wrote: > They were already set to OFF OFF in CONFIG: PTT--KEY, enabled VOX but still > same result - no power output! ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html _____ If you reply to this email, your message will be added to the discussion below: http://elecraft.365791.n2.nabble.com/K3-a-few-new-user-questions-tp7348177p7 352193.html To unsubscribe from K3 a few new user questions, click here <http://elecraft.365791.n2.nabble.com/template/NamlServlet.jtp?macro=unsubsc ribe_by_code&node=7348177&code=cmF5Mi5zQGJ0aW50ZXJuZXQuY29tfDczNDgxNzd8MTUwM jE5MTU4Nw==> . <http://elecraft.365791.n2.nabble.com/template/NamlServlet.jtp?macro=macro_v iewer&id=instant_html%21nabble%3Aemail.naml&base=nabble.naml.namespaces.Basi cNamespace-nabble.view.web.template.NabbleNamespace-nabble.view.web.template .NodeNamespace&breadcrumbs=notify_subscribers%21nabble%3Aemail.naml-instant_ emails%21nabble%3Aemail.naml-send_instant_email%21nabble%3Aemail.naml> NAML ----- Ray G3XLG -- View this message in context: http://elecraft.365791.n2.nabble.com/K3-a-few-new-user-questions-tp7348177p7352694.html Sent from the Elecraft mailing list archive at Nabble.com. ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[email protected] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
