This thread seems to have quieted since Harry Corsover's above post on
Monday, July 8, 2002, at 08:58 PM. Have I missed something?
FWIW -- Harry, you and I are using Emailer's Auto File Log in an almost
identical manner and apparently for the same reasons. Is it possible you
and I are the only two on the face of the earth?
My Mail Actions result in the Auto File Log being a COMPLETE list of ALL
emails received. For me, this is an indispensable way to determine very
quickly (and in one place) whether I have rec'd an email
- from someone or
- about a topic or
- in a "category" that resulted in filing in a folder.
It saves me from looking in every folder that is Bold. I use Bold on a
folder only to indicate the presence of unread mail. Why? Because I will
often go into a folder, read only some of the emails, and then go on
leaving some emails unread -- this practice leaves the folder Bold which
then indicates nothing except the presence of unread email.
I am holding out for an alternative to the functionality I now have in
Emailer's Auto File Log. Please note that I said "functionality." I really
don't give a tinker's dam what the feature is called and am willing to
take a very different route to achieve the functionality so long, of
course, as the new route is reasonably convenient! (FWIW -- I have even
considered receiving email directly into FileMaker Pro but shy from
tackling the project of actually creating my own email client since I
obviously will want quite a few of the many other whistles and bells
available in other email clients.)
Sooooo -- Have there been any further insights regarding the "Recent Mail"
log window in PowerMail 4 public beta?
