Chris,
First off -- I am absolutely delighted you find life meaningful even
though you do not use Emailer's Auto File Log. I would be just about the
last person to say anyone HAD to use it.
Second -- I'm not really sure what I said to give you the erroneous idea
that I DO NOT file email into folders and sub-folders -- as a matter of
fact, I do a whole lot of automatic sorting and filing. Of the 325 I
receive on an average day, about 300 go into about 80 different folders
and sub-folders as a result of Mail Actions. Part of each Mail Action is
listing them in the Auto File Log. IOW, this being presented with a "big,
long list" just like an In Box is not what happens to me at all. Rather,
immediately upon opening the Auto File Log I spread it to full screen
width and sort it by Folder. Then I can see at a glance if there is any
reason I want to go to any specific Folder -- this where I get the
overview and this ability to see an overview (at a glance, literally) is
the functionality I want to retain in some manner.
Third -- Chris, here is where you may have gotten the idea that I do not
automatically sort incoming email into folders. My very last Mail Action
assures that any email not already sorted into a Folder (and so by default
is in the In Box) is also listed in the Auto File Log. Why? It's my way of
assuring that I don't overlook a newly-received email from some dim-bulb
with a clock that's days behind meaning that her/his email is "buried" on
screen 2 or 5 of the In Box. I have just enough friends in this category
to make me cautious.
Fourth -- Chris, nobody can delete faster than I can but I concede you may
be my equal at it.
