the bottom liine is:
the is *NO* valid reason I have yet see for HTML mail -other than spam.
for foms a link to a web page, or an enclosure. sme fo rthe HTML itself
- a simple link to a web page resolves the issue of html.

Hi, Prof. Whatever
we would like you to pleae fill in this form so you can get paid
<http://www.getpaid.univ.edu>

otherwise the only reason to use html is by spammers where the spammer
has embedded in the html code, or the embedded link(s), validation of the
email address to which it was sent; for use in future spam and for
reselling the valid email address to other spammers.

You claim that your Univ. uses html mail - what can they possibly be
placing in the mail that *require* html? At some point in hte prcess
there is plain text - I have found that any legitimate email users (such
as vendor 'special' email lists) which try to use html will have a plain
text option. Have you asked the univ. to send you plain text?

Does your university also require that you use Fed Ex to deliver a simple
memo such as:
'I will not be in the office today'??

someone somewhere is NOT on the ball -
as setting up (so it actually works) html is far more difficult and time
consuming than plain text
