The advantage of drag & drop in this case - rather than double clicking - is that it allows opening a browser of choice rather than the default browser (IE).
Much as I want to agree with the approach of trashing all HTML mail, I'm afraid that creates a danger like being the last ice man. HTML mail is here, like it or not.
