In Digest V103 #225, the person identified as Mary Lou James,
[EMAIL PROTECTED] hunted and pecked out the following:

>So my question to you, what is out there that will work with an old Mac
>that will allow me to back-up the computer and transfer my files over to
>my G4. The Performa computer does not have USB capabilities. Any ideas
>before I have a break down over the chance my computer will tell me that
>my hard drive is irreparably damaged and I have no recent backup?

You might consider trying what I did when we got an iMac to go with our
LC III -- I got an Ethernet card from MacSense for the LC III (abt $30),
networked the two, and did a complete backup of the LC III to the iMac
drive.

To transfer files via Ethernet is simple. To get =installable=
applications that came on floppys transferred, make disk images with
ShrinkWrap or DiskCopy and transfer them -- then do your installation
from the disk images (which should be archived for safekeeping).
