I've also found something else that looks slightly more elegant, using IO_ADDRESS whuch apparently does the mapping, and __raw_readl and __raw_writel. I haven't been able to get those to compile under Angstrom. Matt has suggested moving to Debian, I will try his 8 GB SD card again and see if I can get it to boot.
