Hello everyone,
As some of you may know, I've been working on a Gentoo image for LinuxCNC that
installs and boots off USB, SATA/AHCI, and NVMe devices.
The only problem right now is that it is going to take some time to get qtpyvcp
working with it, however LinuxCNC itself and FlexGUI work perfectly fine on it.
I made a post on the forum about this, but would like to ask the mailing list
too.
How important is it to get qtpyvcp working with the Gentoo image as of right
now? I can post the image and updated installer as-is, without support for
qtpyvcp, or I can hold off and try and get qtpyvcp sorted before pushing
everything out. I can always host a new image later with qtpyvcp and push what
I have at the moment.
Any feedback is greatly appreciated.
I am for it, with my toothpick sized oar, debian came around and wanted
to add linuxcnc to the deb system. They have since filed more bugs
against it, trying to make it fit their idea of how it should work I
guess, but I don't see it as a plus for us. Gentoo may be a better fit
in the long view. I would certainly try it if axis still works. I've
also got an rpi4b running my service truck Sheldon, can gentoo run on
arm64's? Thank you for the effort Alec.
System ships with Konqueror, Okular, LXQt, XFCE, FileZilla, guvcview, and much
more.
Thanks!
Alec
