When I worked for a power supply manufacturer a couple years ago we were NOT required to mark all UL Recognized components, but were on all Listed products. For Recognized components the manufacturerer ID and rating is often enough. When I queried UL about this it seemed to be more of a precedent than written in a standard. I'm not sure about some of the others (CSA, TUV) but I think if you advertise it you must mark.
Darrell Locke Compliance Engineer Advanced Input Devices ---------- From: Bob Brister <Brister Subject: Agency symbol List-Post: [email protected] Date: Wednesday, April 02, 1997 7:59PM Hello, Is the manufacturer of a recognized component or an approved finished product required to place the approving agencies symbol/mark on the component or product? Perhaps the requirements are different depending on whether it is a component or a finished product. I am sure it is to the manufacturers advantage to do so, but is it a "thou shalt" regulatory requirement? When looking at section 1.7 in IEC950 the primary informational label seems to be the power rating label and agency symbol/mark is not mentioned as required information.
