Hi,
Does it mean that we do not need to do anything even though we know the new directive? We may not need to take the action immediately but as a spirit of this newsgroup, we have to start the discussion on how to proceed smoothly the implementation of new directive. We should not just find any legal and illegal excuses not to take any actions. Otherwise, this newsgroup becomes useless. I have also consulted our lawyer who is experienced in CE regulations and product liability. He confirms my opinion. Another information which I have, is that the Commission will prepare a statement that the "EC-DoCs" don't have to include the new Directive number! Mit freundlichen Grüßen Yours sincerely Dipl.-Ing. Neverthless, the new directive replaces 73/23/EC and states that it (the new directive) shall enter into force from the 20th day after publication in the OJ. I make this 16 January 2007. Therefore, by my reading, all Declarations of Conformity issued under the LVD from 16 January 2006 should refer to the new directive and not the old one. Would others care to comment on whether they agree with this interpretation? You can download the full text of the new Directive from: http://eur-lex.europa.eu/JOHtml.do?uri=OJ:L:2006:374:SOM:EN:HTML Oh, and by the way - A Happy New Year to all!
