Scott: For what it's worth, one should consult IEC Guide 112 _Guide on the safety of multimedia equipment_. It really doesn't say a heck of a lot, but for multimedia equipment, its essentially manufacturer's choice for the use of 60065 vs. 60950-1 per Guide 112.

Which one is more appropriate to determine the standard? IEC/EN 60335-2-29 is specific to chargers and is not suitable for complete products with another function even if a charging circuit is included. IEC/EN 60065 is the correct standard to apply. -- OOO - Own Opinions Only. Try www.jmwa.demon.co.uk and www.isce.org.uk Things can always get better. But that's not the only option.
