Dear John, UK has a national requirement, SI 1768 1994 Plug & Socket Safety Regulation that requires the standard plug must be certified by a notified body. Currently, there are three notified bodies: BSI, ASTA and Nemko approved by DTI. Does DTI have an update list of such approved notified bodies published?
According to Plug and Socket Regulations Guidance documents, the notified bodies in NANDO (New Approach Notified and Designated Organisations) can certify mains plug as well. Currently, TUV Rheinland in China claims to have such authorisation. Is there any latest update in this regulation?
