The only thing I don't understand is this.

For example such a mesa card, thats a pci card ?

I suppose that these cards by default don't do anything and you need
to load some kind of firmware onto them ?

Where do I find that information then? Or is mesa only provider of
these cards and is firmware a whole other story ?
