Raster, If I remember correctly, you wanted the "generic layout" to
work well with resolution changes. Any requirements for that?
I see two possibilities here:
  - 1/ When the resolution is changed, the gadgets keep their relative
        position, i.e. if the horizontal alignement of a gadget was
        0.5 (center), it will stay centered regardless to the screen
        resolution
  - 2/ When the resolution is changed, the gadgets keep their
        absolute position, i.e if a gadget was at pos 200,300, it
        will stay at 200,300. If the gadget is no longer entirely
        visible, it will be moved in order to get visible again.

The first one seems better to me.
