I prefer doing clean installations - so I moved all my existing root folders
into a holding folder (old installation), and performed a clean
installation. I then took the 'Documents' folder from the old installation
and moved it to the root.
I am now unable to connect to the network to get any mail - but all other
connectivity works.

Essentially, that's what I did.
