And more info yet, so I'm reorganizing this. Here is what I have found, in order, with the new stuff at the bottom. You can just skip to that. >> This is a new error to me. >> OS X 10.1.3, day 3 >> Ti 400, 700+ ram >> >> On launch: The action cannot be completed. Mail error. >> Symptoms: >> 1. No preview appears in the Preview Pane. Message can be read by >> double-clicking the message. >> 2. No buttons work. But all commands with via menus or keys. >> >> Turning preview off and on didn't work, several times. >> Same with all menus. >> Tried removing Prefs. No help. >> Rebooting, of course. No help. >> Have 2 identities. Same on both. >> >> Any ideas from the team, please? >> >> Thanks.

The Auto-complete/suggest feature in the To field of an email does > not work at all. So now... I used the Uninstall Office app and removed all of Office. I reinstalled and did the Entourage X-Hotmail Update and Security updates. No difference. In fact, the app just kept quitting on me. I removed my User data and it started fine and worked fine. Tried another user file and it worked fine too. I put back my Database, but not the Signatures, Rules, Mailing Lists, and Database Cache. Same problems. Conclusion: It's my User Database. Now the BIG QUESTION: Is it true that we are not supposed to Rebuild the Database at all in X? I'm not sure where I heard that. But it appears all I have left to do. Ah, but the plot thickens even more... I went back to a backup from 2-22 and decided I'd use that and add the new mail into that one. (I do that by aliasing it as a user identity.) But the preview and other issues were there too, and, turns out now there in all of the users. So, to review: no Preview. No dragging messages. No buttons. Yes, menus and contextual menus. Yes dragging text in a message. Yes, messages readable when opened in their own window.
