Some of what you say doesn't make sense to me. If you can see your messages
and drag your folders to the Finder, why can't you look at your Address
Book? It is all part of the same database. What happens when you try to
select the address book view?

Incidentally, creating a new identity is the way to go if you can't get the
old one fixed, and dragging the messages folder by folder is a good way to
transfer the messages. Watch out, subfolders do not get copied; every folder
or subfolder has to be individually dragged.

That reminds me...I wrote a script a while back I forgot to post ANYWHERE!
It is called, Save Folders to Desktop. It pops up a list of your folders,
lets you pick one or more, and then saves the folder to the desktop
(simulating what happens when you drag it), appending the date to the folder
name to name the resulting file, e.g., "Deborah20020306". This provides a
sort of dated archiving method. I have a second version of the script that
will let you specify a number of days and will archive only messages older
than that number of days. This takes a lot longer to run because it must
first select the messages by date, then move them to a temporary folder,
archive that temporary folder, and then move the messages back again. (It
could be modified to just leave them in the temp folder, of course, once
archived, or to delete them--I don't quite trust it that much yet.) This
version is called "Archive Folders".

I've posted these scripts on my web page:
