Is there anything that has to be done under 10.2 to make smtpauth work?
Several weeks ago, someone suggested that using smtpauth (this is Earthlink
if that makes any difference), would allow one to send mail from servers
other than the one owned by Earthlink. I tried it and it worked wonderfully;
I could still send from home and when I was in a hotel with a wireless
(really - neat!) connection available, I sent from that with no problem.
Last night I installed 10.2. Everything went relatively well, except that in
Archive & Install it wouldn't let me preserve users and network settings
(the button wasn't active - I don't know why). So I just did Archive &
Install and then moved all the folders from my old user folder to the new
one. When I first started E'rageX and tried to get email, it couldn't
connect to the mail server (I'm online using an Airport, so all the "new"
computer had to do was connect to that, not get me onto the Earthlink
server). I gnashed my teeth, swore, etc, and then decided to try changing my
account id from just the part before the @ sign to the whole email address.
That worked and I can get email. Then when I tried to send a message, it
said that authentication had failed. I double checked by typing in the
account id and password again but it still didn't work. I even tried putting
just the part before the @ sign in as id, since that was what I'd had
before. No luck. So I've reverted to the regular smtp server for the moment,
but I would like to get smtpauth back before the next trip. Any ideas?

On the plus side - Jaguar fixed my previous printing problem, and with no
intervention from me at all :-). I just printed something for the first time
since installing and it just printed - didn't ask me to set up the printer
or anything (pre-10.2 the first time I printed after starting up or plugging
in the printer I'd have to do two tries to get it to work).
