I think I remember being told that they didn't support SMTP AUTH by ELN tech
support (I could be wrong, but...).

At work I am setting up a CommuniGate Pro server that we will be migrating
to soon and it lets you have multiple listeners for the SMTP service, so I
set it up to listen for SMTP transactions on port 2025 as well as 25 and I
get around Earthlink's restrictions that way.

I don't think Jan is using ELN's SMTP server to send mail as I really don't
think they support SMTP AUTH (maybe she got lucky and hit a server that had
that service enable for some reason?).
