This might have been recent - Earthlink sent out an email to everyone (that was very confusing; I don't think I'd have done the SMTP AUTH thing if someone on this or another list hadn't explained it :-)), suggesting it for travel > > > Something is also a bit confusing: Are you using Earthlink's smtp server to > send mail from your earthlink account or are using Earthlink's server to > send non-earthlink mail, or vice versa? I'm using Earthlink's smtpauth server to send mail from my Earthlink mail account when I'm logged onto the internet using a non-Earthlink server (to make my life easier I also use it when I'm logged onto an Earthlink server, but that's just so I don't have to change smtp servers when I go someplace else). For instance, on a recent trip, I was staying at a Marriott that had a wireless network available in the lobby. The restaurant is next to the lobby and I was able to send and receive email while I was eating breakfast. Before I started using the smtpauth mail server to send, I had been able to receive but not send from a non-Earthlink server. -- Jan Martel in Davis, CA IBook 500; System 10.1.5, 9.2.2 -- To unsubscribe: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> archives: <http://www.mail-archive.com/entourage-talk%40lists.letterrip.com/> old-archive: <http://www.mail-archive.com/entourage-talk%40lists.boingo.com/>
