If I enter an appointment in the Calendar, it is always 4 hours earlier! I am in AST, 4 hours later than PST, but why does it do this? I thought I had solved the problem by setting the preferences to PST, but it has reverted again. Also, I put in a trip as an event that runs from Jan 8 to Jan 30, yet it has spilled over to February 18!! Something must be very corrupted...

Looking at your message headers shows that your computer’s clock is probably 4 hours out ― and set in the wrong time zone:

You wrote the message at 10 minutes to midnight in time zone ―8hrs (is that west coast?)
It was received by the letterrip server at nearly half past 8 in time zone ―8hrs ― almost 4 hours BEFORE you wrote it.
If you follow the instructions Allen posted your problem should disappear.
