If the messages crash your machine when you view them in the Preview Pane, turn off the Preview Pane in the View menu. If you then select the messages and view the Source (same menu) you can see what the message is with far less chance of it crashing Entourage. You can also delete them if they are unimportant. It sounds like you might need to do a standard database rebuild.
