Thanks, Jan, for your commiseration. It is certainly a mystery. Although I must be honest. I find a bigger mystery in the scarcity of suggestions.
I love this mailing list. The people are smart, helpful, tolerant and very knowledgeable about Entourage and most things Mac. But I¹ve posted this problem three times, and no one has responded with a single suggestion. I know that all of the Entourage MVP¹s and Microsoft and Apple people on this list read all the messages, and they frequently respond with immediate help, or at least the acknowledgment of a known problem. So I¹m wondering: when the experts and senior people see this topic raised, do they react with, ³Hmm, that¹s weird, never seen that before²? Or do they react with, ³Oh boy. Sync Services again. I¹m not touching that tar baby with a ten foot pole²? Or something in between? I know it¹s a complex problem, and I¹m sure there are lots of people who would love to be able to take advantage of the intended functionality. But it seems most of the people who have anything to say about Sync Services on this list will only say ³It causes me lots of problems so I turned it off². Since calendar sharing is very important to me, I¹m strongly tempted to stop using Entourage calendars and switch to just iCal. I know I would give up a lot of functionality, but the tradeoff is becoming a closer call. From there it¹s a slippery slope to using Address Book and Mail. I know it¹s reduced functionality, but it seems like more reliable and predictable operation on some of the things I care most about, like sharing. And then, heaven forbid, an alternative to Office?
