I've been having the same problem with my Ti PowerBook. I know that my
database is an issue - it is close to 9 Gigs. Even when I rebuild it it only
stays problem free for a day or so.

But I do have Entourage freeze up, and then come back. It can last up to
a couple of minutes at a time.

I also have the problem that many mornings at some point I get an
Entourage database or similar error (something similar to can't perform that
operation) and I have to restart the computer to get Entourage or Office
Notifications to work.

Well I turned off Integrity Check in the Background and for the last two
days I have had no freeze and no quitting / errors of Entourage (at least
yet).

I guess I'm taking a risk of more catastrophic failure, but I have to
way that against the daily gains. And yes I'll check (or just rebuild)
occasionally.

And yes I should see if I can bring down the database size. I'd like to
archive a lot of the messages, but have not found a good way to do so yet.
(I need somewhat to search the archive effectively.)

Of and though I really liked having Spotlight searching of my mail
database, it just slowed things down way too much so I turned it back off.
