Thanks for the link, Joshua -- that appears to be precisely it and it sounds like it also only affects MacBooks and MacBook Pros. If you have freezing problems and Entourage is also eating a lot of CPU power at times, and if you don't want to check the link, in short, launch Entourage with the Option Key down, select "Set Database Preferences" then uncheck "Perform Database Integrity Check in the Background". The person who found the fix said they had regular freezes beforehand and none after, so maybe this is a short-term solution. However, it is also recommended to periodically reactivate and run "Perform Database Integrity Check in the Background" to be on the safe side (I don't know if it runs immediately or not and since you can't force it to run, I would suggest either leaving it on for a few hours or a day, or launching and watching activity monitor until Entourage CPU usage spikes considerably and then goes back down to normal, then deactivate it again). Interestingly, in the "Perform Database Integrity Check in the Background" window I note that it also says it will not run when on batt. power, which begs the question -- has anyone here with a MB or MBPro experienced a freeze when on batt. power (I don't recall it happening to me but I only run my MBPro on batt. power, when traveling, and the last time was more than 3 weeks ago, so I can't be sure)?? If the fix-theory is correct, Entourage should never freeze when on batt. power, whether "Perform Database Integrity Check in the Background" is turned on or off...
