Hi Victoria!

Have you ascertained that FileVault is related to this problem and not just
a red herring? I have FileVault enabled on my company laptop for my account
and I'm not having any problems.

Crashes will not move your identity and Entourage itself has no way of
moving it. Therefore, I would guess that the crash may be a result of your
identity -moving- in the first place. In other words, I believe the move may
be causing the crash and not that the crash is causing the move.

Do you have any antivirus software running on the laptop? If so, you may
want to add the location of the Entourage database to a "safe zone" list if
your software supports it. I would also suggest verifying the hard drive
with a utility such as DiskWarrior. Also, review your list of active
processes that can move data automatically on the laptop.

Finally, can you please clarify the second location where the identity is
appearing? Metadata information is not stored by Entourage in the /Library
folder. It would be stored in the user's ~/Library/Caches/Metadata...
folder. Have you yourself found the moved identities or are you relying on
the end user's report?
