What does quitting Database Demon do? I only do this when I copy my User ID

The Database Daemon is responsible for checking the health of your Entourage database in the background and alerting you to potential problems if it finds any. It's also responsible for generating the Spotlight cache files so
that your email messages will be searchable under Spotlight.

Is it good practice to quit it regularly?

It's a health and maintenance tool. Unless you find that it's causing you problems then just leave it alone. I believe it will restart when Entourage
is next launched.

Entourage is not my primary email client.
However, I do use it occasionally. The Database Daemon is not in my Login Items.
Does this mean if I want it running again, I should open it?
I am assuming that long ago I removed it from the Login Items list.
