Diane-

Sounds like at least the 10.4.11 combo is a good idea, even if I pass on Entourage. Any known issues with 10.4.11? A link to a list would be nice, if you have one.

Is Entourage a tempermental program in general, or is it usually reliable in your experience?

Usually, when Entourage will not open, it’s a problem with Entourage and/or preferences. In your case since you have not used Entourage , this indicates a problem with your install of Office or on the base OS files that Office uses.

use "Remove Office" located in Additional Tools folder In Office 2004. You’ll need your registration key when installing in #4. Apply the latest Apple combo updater- this will overwrite any files that have become corrupted. Incremental updaters do not go back and overwrite other files. Combo updaters will install on the same version as they’re applying—no need to roll back or do a clean install. Restart and run Repair Permissions
Install Office from the CD and Update fully.

You need to get these updaters:

11.3.5 combo
11.3.6 requires 11.3.5 to be installed
11.3.7 requires 11.3.6 to be installed
11.3.8 requires 11.3.7 to be installed
11.3.9 requires 11.3.8 to be installed
