I really hope that the Entourage developers read the messages on this list. It would have been nice if Microsoft had actually made Entourage and the rest of the MS Office products "rock solid" before releasing them. Solid software with stable features is better than buggy software with new features. My MS Word 2004 _still_ tries to make changes to the Normal template after I do absolutely nothing to the the Normal template, toolbars or anything else. But that happens only sometimes, not every time. Word documents still sometimes, but not always, try to do auto-formatting, when I know that I have all those features turned off. Excel 2004 and Word 2004 change their preferences by themselves about 50% of the time, turning off the "Provide feedback with sound" check box. I know I have it on, and have not turned it off. The applications make the changes by themselves. I recently installed Office 2008 on a fresh OS Mac, using a MUD 2004 folder copied from an old Mac to the newer Mac (with a fresh 10.4.11 Erase and Install, including all updates for both 10.4.11 and Office 2008). Upon starting Entourage, it found and imported the old 2004 MUD Identity. It seemed to work fine. But after starting Word 2008 (all updates applied first), Word 2008 told me that the Database was corrupt. I quit all the Office 2008 applications, and ran the Database Utility, which told me that the Database was fine. I restarted all the MS Office 2008 applications, and did not receive any warnings. Everything seems to work fine. But I'm waiting for that day when the Database somehow corrupts itself. Does MS MBU engage in any QC and QA? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Roger S.
