Just saw Avatar last night. It is an AWESOME MOVIE!!! The special
effects and computers graphics have broken new ground (believe it or
not) and be sure to see this in 3-D. The plot has a similar theme to
"The Last Samurai" starring Tom Cruise except that this story is set in
the year 2154 on the planet Pandora. There is a love story that evolves
throughout the movie but the main thrust of the plot is environmental,
ecological and spiritual. And of special interest to ENTS' members,
trees are a big deal in the film. The Na'vi, a group of aboriginal
people to live on this planet have a tree as their home base: the trunk
is about the size of several city blocks.
Here is a synopsis of the film I took from Wikipedia:
The film begins in the year 2154 and focuses on an epic conflict on
Pandora, an inhabited Earth-sized moon

the three fictional gas giants <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gas_giant>
orbiting Alpha Centauri A
<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alpha_Centauri_A> (the names Pandora

<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polyphemus> are taken from two Greek
<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greek> mythological figures). On Pandora,
human colonists and the sapient <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sapience>
humanoid indigenous inhabitants of Pandora, the Na'vi

war over the planet and the latter's continued existence. The film's
title refers to the remotely controlled, genetically engineered
<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Genetic_engineering> human-Na'vi bodies
used by the film's human characters to interact with the natives.[4]
