Re: [ENTS] AvatarKirk, I think you are mistaken to try to attribute the events depicted in the movie to any particular current political situation. The history of mankind is one of one group invading or conquering another region in order to exploit the resources found there. There are innumerable examples from throughout history. It also is a very common theme that has been done thousands of times in various science fiction novels for the last century. The movie is beautiful to watch, especially the CGI but the story in very derivative and average. It is worth seeing for the images, if not for the story. I did not see a single concept that had not been done before, and generally done better in other peoples novels. No, I would say it is not about Middle Eastern oil, but a broader idea of human expansionism throughout history. There is not any reason to interpret a hidden modern political allegory into the movie. It is simply about the look of the film.
