Hi all,

Just an additional opinion about the D30 (not mine, I've never even seen a D30,
but anyway...)
A german computer magazine 'CT-magazin' has tested the EOS D30, the Fuji Finepix
S1 Pro and the Olympus E10. They compared their results to a test with the Nikon
D1, which they have tested earlier. They especially mentioned the D30's ISO
settings in their test. Higher ISO-settings are used to increase the sensitivety
of the sensor in lowlight situations. Apparently, a CMOS-sensor, like the one
fitted into the D30 produces much more noise, resulting in a higher number of
pixels not showing the correct color, many of them even becoming totaly white.
The magazine praised the Canon team for their succes in reducing this noise at
low ISO settings by using special circuitary, on the other hand they found that
the noise at higher ISO settings is extremely annoying, much worse than with the
D1.

For those interessted: some of the magazine's test shots can be found at

Regards,

Bart
