I have the LS-30 and am extremely happy with it. The main quality
difference between the 2000 and 30 is that the 2000 is a 36 bit scanner vs a
30 bit for the LS-30. [That is 68.7 Billion Colors (36 bit) vs. 1.1 Billion
Colors (LS-30, 30 bit)]. But all that said, it is reduced to 24 bit, 16.8
million colors when sent INTO the computer. A very high key pic or one with
lots of shadow detail benefits the most. The LS-2000 remains on my wish
list, but I have only found ONE particular negative (sunny day, girl with
curly, tight black hair) when the LS-30 scan was unacceptable... that is out
of MANY THOUSANDS of scans.
The Digital ICE is also available on a Minolta model I think... I would NOT
have a scanner without it.
