Well I think F4 even at 75mm give a very shallow depth of field for
portaits. I'd stick to F8 unless you're being creative and doing special
shots. In other words, your 70-200 will be fine indoors. If you want to use
available light F4 will be fine. I'd suggest trying out some good 400/800
speed films. Particularly Portra 400 comes to mind. I love new Superia 800,
it's made my slow zooms into very useable equipment, and as for blowups, I'm
very pleased with grain etc. I find it has a natural colour that most Kodak
films except Portra perhaps can't match.

Now, if you just have to have a new lens and a fast one. the EF 100 F2 USM
is the ticket. You can add extension tubes to do macro, but you get that
extra F-stop you are wanting, versus a F2.8 lens. After all, you want fast -
go fast! It might be my next lens too, I love that range for people work,
and it's sharp, fast and not too expensive. Then if you get this lens, you
can use Portra 160NC or Reala :-)

If you haven't got one already, why not put the money into a good film
scanner?
