I fear we may both be wrong, especially since the lenses have a round
diameter, but the film format is rectangular.

I could SEE the 20-35 Flare-cutting diaphragm (FCD) from the front of
the lens, but could not SEE an FCD in the 20/2.8.

Upon further reading (at Klaus Schroiff's Photozone), there are many
fixed (including the 20/2.8 and 300/2.8) and zoom lenses (including
the 28-135 IS) that use FCD. See:
