Well, as I said, I never had the chance to put my fingers on one of 
those zooms. For your purpose as mentioned above, there is IMHO no clear 
and obvious decision. Whatever you'll choose, it will be a compromise. 
The zoom is more flexible for framing, the prime has less distortion, 
likely better corner sharpness and a little less flare - which is in all 
fairness to be expected. It's not an easy decision. If you can live with 
the distortion, MY decision would be the zoom for flexibility.
