Hi Gary,
ROFLOL. I think WJM used the soldering iron on the
Cokin P holder, not the EF lens! He did destroy the
round filter-holder in doing so, which precludes using
the Cokin CPOL.

I managed to rest the Cokin P holder on the lens-hood
bayonet mount, and it can be held in place simply with
a rubber band. At the suggestion of many kinds folks,
I will trim off the two front-most rectangular holders.
