By how much? Is it enough to forego the flexibility of a zoom?

While I don't doubt the quality from a prime lens is almost always better
than a zoom at the similar focal length (I've seen examples of a 20 years
old consumer grade 50 mm prime lens generating image quality that made my
jaw drop), just make sure you are not paying for that last 5% of quality
improvement by negating all the other benefits of the EF20-35 f3.5-4.5.

As if you don't need more opinions to influence your tug-of-war decision
process.....

Regards,

Ken (who bought the EF20-35 last May without ANY hesitation or ANY pondering
for my ride with Snowbirds formation flight, I knew that was the lens and
have never regretted the decision. On the other hand, I have been agonizing
myself for the past 2 months on which high performance tires to get this
summer, but that's another story for another forum)
