I feel exactly the same way.  I first purchased an A2, feeling that the
additional features of the 3 and 1v weren't needed, particularly ECF.  I
recently bought a used 1n, which is basically a more rugged A2, i.e. 5
focusing areas, A-TTL, evaluative, center weighted, spot meter, etc.  I
really like them both.  And I still feel the 3 and the 1v have too many
whistles and bells for me.
