You gave the same advice last year Bob when I first changed to a full EOS
system and I couldn't come to grips with the slow synch. feature, compared
to my previous system. I took your advice then and have since shot several
jobs using M to set minimum handholdable shutter and leaving the flash on
auto make up the difference for correct subject exposure. It is easy to keep
an eye on the exposure scale to estimate how the background will expose,
often -2.0 to -3.5 stops. When in a hurry to grab a few shots I occasionally
just set P which does similar anyway. I've had no problems. Thanks again
